TMMK threatens stir

Special CorrespondentCHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam has threatened to launch a series of agitations if the State Government did not issue an order providing for separate quota for Muslims in employment and education by December 31.
A resolution at the party's general council meeting in Papanasam on Sunday said the Government should implement the Justice Janardhanam Committee recommendation, which suggested that reservation for Muslims could be made without affecting the pending Supreme Court case against 69 per cent reservation. The Chief Minister also mentioned the recommendation in the Assembly.
The meeting also urged the Centre to bring in a legislation based on the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and Renganath Misra Committee.
